Description:
The workflow developed through this research project provides a bottom up approach to assigning localised material distribution. Instead of computationally optimizing the material distribution of an object against a particular functional criterion, for example, mechanical behaviour, our approach introduces a direct material modelling process which enables the design of material information in conjunction with functional criteria. The workflow extracts nodal response data from solid FEA field output, manipulates the resolution of the data, and translates it into bitmaps ready for multi-material printing.
